It’s open May through October. You’ll get wet on the 20-minute ride, but ponchos are provided. There’s also an Observation Deck to look down from above, a great spot for photos.

You can also visit Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest park in America to see the falls. Younger kids or families that don’t love heights can get a clear view and walk along the park’s paths.

The Shea’s Buffalo Theatre is located in downtown Buffalo, NY, conveniently right next to a tram station.

This gorgeous old-fashioned theatre will have your family gaping at every turn. It was built in 1926 in a time when glamourous architecture and opulence were abundant. Watkins Glen State Park is one of the best outdoor attractions in Upstate NY. With an amazing mile-and-a-half walking trail that takes you past 19 waterfalls, charming brooks, and fast-moving rapids, your family will be in awe.
The entire Gorge Trail takes about 2 hours to walk, but you can stop and go back at any time. The trail’s elevation changes often and has over 800 steps in total. This can be great for adventurous or fitness-loving families, but it might be tiring for younger kids.
The paths can sometimes be a little wet too, especially in the springtime when waterfalls are booming. Bring boots or waterproof shoes with good traction for easier navigation. Rest assured – the views are worth a bit of splashing!

- Buttermilk Falls, another impressive waterfall, is close to the city’s center and offers a sizeable picnic area at the base where families can play and relax. If you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge, you’ll also find a steeper trail that runs alongside the falls for more advanced hikers.
